Back-to-School Prayer Guide for Parents: Praying Over Your Kids During the First Week of School (Day Three)

Day 3: Lift up your child’s friendships and relationships, asking for God’s protection and guidance.

Praying for Friendships and Relationships

Scripture: “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” – Proverbs 13:20

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for your child to form godly, healthy friendships/relationships and to have courage to set boundaries with those who would be a negative influence.
  • Pray that God would grant you discernment to notice any red flags that signal a need for intervention, such as bullying, inappropriate relationships, or negative peer pressure.
  • Pray that your child would be the friend that someone needs and would shine the light of Jesus wherever they go.

Practical Tip: Offer to host your child’s friends in your home and pay attention to their interactions. Your home can be a safe space for relationship-building while also keeping you aware of their influences.

Bonus Blessing: Speak This Over Your Child Every Day Before School

“May God bless you, protect you, and make His face to shine upon you. May you walk in blessing and favor, guided by the Holy Spirit. You are loved, valued, and a child of God. You are made in the image of Christ and He is always with you.”
